Delhi to host India’s largest music festival – ‘The Eastwind Nun Usual Music Festival’
New Delhi: Delhi is all set to host India’s largest music festival, the Eastwind Nun Usual Music Festival, from the 22nd to the 24th of February, 2008. The three-day festival that will be held at the NSIC grounds in Okhla will feature over 60 bands.
Eastwind is being organised by Prospect Advisory and Management. The idea behind the festival was to bring together musicians, music lovers and all industry related companies under one umbrella making it the one stop shop for contemporary original music and creating a live music experience like never before.
The world over, music festivals and live concerts are the most effective method of promoting original music. However, in India, the music scene has been limited to performances in pubs or small scale concerts, all spread sparsely over a year.
Eastwind aims to fill in the void that exists for that one large music festival that needs to be held annually and provide every participating band the opportunity of establishing their music, and more importantly their identity among the masses. The band-list is an eclectic mix of veteran bands such as Parikrama, Thermal And A Quarter and Them Clones and younger bands such as Half Step Down, Cyanide and Advaita amongst others.
Commenting on the festival and the purpose it serves Mr. Adhiraj Mustafi, Managing Director, Prospect A&M said, “The Indian music industry has come a long way in the last few years. Every year we see more and more international artists coming to India to perform their original music. We at Prospect believe that the Indian music fraternity is not far behind them. They too have successfully been a part of many shows featuring their own music.” He added, “The Eastwind Festival is a tribute to these very artistes and will undoubtedly be the best platform for bands to be recognised, appreciated and respected for their true identity”
Commenting on NUN's involvement with Eastwind, Mr Mustafi said," Eastwind in other words is originality, innovation and excitement. It is a music festival which aspires to be different and individualistic. NUN a lifestyle with a cheeky edge reflects freedom and is a discovery for the bold and adventurous. NUN and Eastwind perfectly complement each other and aim to deliver a fun-filled experience which builds a connection that last forever."
Apart from the performances, Eastwind will also feature a plethora of other opportunities for bands and music fans. As part of the festival, workshops will be held by senior musicians and an exhibition is being held that will feature the best equipment, accessories and instruments available in the country for musicians.
With over a 200 entries from various bands from across India, Eastwind aims to put India on the global music map and become one of the most sought after and prestigious annual events to promote contemporary original music.
